Solution

Overview

I want to bypass authentication for image files (.jpg, .bmp, etc.) by creating policy in the VPM (Visual Policy Manager).

To bypass authentication for images, create a rule in a Web Authentication layer:

  1. Launch the Visual Policy Manager.
  2. Create a Web Authentication layer (Policy > Add Web Authentication Layer ).
  3. Create a destination object for .jpg files:
    • Right-click in the Destination column and choose Set.
    • Select New > Request URL.
    • For the name, specify JPG.
    • Choose Advanced Match.
    • In the Path field, type .jpg and select At End from the drop-down.
    • Click Add.
    • Click Close.
  4. Repeat step 3 to create objects for .jpeg, .bmp, and .gif files.
  5. Create a combined object that includes request URL objects for jpeg, jpg, bmp and gif files:
    • In the Set Destination Object dialog, select New > Combined Destination Object.
    • For the name, specify Images.
    • Select each image object (BMP, GIF, etc.) that you created in step 3 and click Add.
    • Click OK.
    • Make sure the Images object is selected and click OK.
  6. Turn off authentication for the Images object:
    • Right-click in the Action column and choose Set.
    • Select Do Not Authenticate.
    • Close the dialogs.
  7. Install the policy.

The following screenshot is an example of a combined object that includes request URL advance match objects for jpeg, jpg, bmp and gif files.
