Reporter is running in a command line window which stays open indefinitely

<< Back to Knowledge Search

When you log into a Windows server running the Blue Coat Reporter 9 service, you might notice a command line window which stays open indefinitely while the Reporter service is running.

The title bar of the command line window contains the path to the bcreporter.exe executable (for example: C:\Program Files\Blue Coat Reporter 9\bcreporter.exe).

Stopping the Reporter service causes the window to close.

To resolve this issue and prevent this command prompt window from displaying, disallow the Reporter service from interacting with the desktop.

  • Go to the Windows service management console: Start MenuAdministrative ToolsServices.
  • Locate the Blue Coat Reporter 9 service, right-click, and select Properties.
  • On the Log On tab, clear the Allow service to interact with desktop option.
  • On the General tab, restart the service. The command line window will not display anymore.
