"Unable to launch the application." error when logging into the Director management console

Solution

Overview

When attempting to log into the Director management console you may receive an error message with the following text:

Unable to launch the application.

Name: Director Management Console

Publisher: Blue Coat Systems, Inc.

From: https://IP-ADDRESS:8085

 

Clicking on the Details button reveals the following error:

Error: Found unsigned entry in resource: https://IP-ADDRESS:8085/lib/jdom.jar

Cause
Resolution

This issue is caused by Java caching being disabled on your workstation.

To resolve this issue follow these steps:

  • Go to the Windows Start Menu > Control Panel
  • Open the Java control panel applet
  • In the General tab click the Settings button
  • Ensure that the checkbox labeled Keep Temporary files on my computer is checked

After this is done, restart your web browser and try logging into the Director management console again - the issue should be resolved at this point.
