What is DNS Optimization in Cacheflow?

Solution

Overview

DNS optimization was introduced in Cacheflow version 3.1.1.1 onwards to reduce the amount of DNS queries to the DNS servers and at the same time reduce the impact when DNS service is down

With DNS optimization, Cacheflow can either trust the client provided destination IP or perform DNS lookups to the DNS server to prevent DNS and cache poisoning. In other words, DNS lookups still occur but only when absolutely necessary

This feature is enabled by default in a transparently deployed Cacheflow and is not configurable; there is no option to disable DNS optimization

This feature is not available when the Cacheflow is deployed in explicit mode
