Overview

On Monday the 30th of January (US) BCWF will change the current classification of picasaweb.google.com.

Specifically, the change will be made to picasaweb.google.com/lh/view, currently categorized as Media Sharing, defined as:
Sites that allow sharing of media (e.g., photo sharing) and have a low risk of including objectionable content such as adult or pornographic material.

To Open/Mixed  Content (Open Image for K9 users) defined as:
Sites with generally non-offensive content but that also have potentially objectionable content such as adult or pornographic material that is not organized so that it can be classified separately. Sites that explicitly exclude offensive content are not included in this category.

We will also be removing picasaweb.google.com from site review as an example of the former category.

This change is due to the fact that picasaweb.google.com allows one to post, search for and find explicit content more suitable for the Open/Mixed Content category. Said content is not confinable to certain areas within the site nor is it policed in any meaningful fashion. We attempted to handle this piecemeal but the requests to categorize new and existing content of an explicit nature are growing too numerous to manage effectively.

Note that when possible we will continue to isolate benign from salacious content.
We welcome any questions or concerns you may have.
