URGENT: SGOS/AVOS Upgrade Required by July 4, 2013
Effective February 28, 2013 Blue Coat will remove all non-compliant SGOS/AVOS software versions from the BlueTouch Online (BTO) download site. This action is being taken to ensure our customers upgrade to a compliant software version containing the new Licensing Subsystem.
This Blue Coat Technical Alert applies to all versions of SGOS 3.x and greater (including versions of 4.x, 5.x and 6.x) and all versions of AVOS. Blue Coat has identified a need to update our licensing system within our existing SGOS and AVOS licensing mechanisms. During the upgrade of the licensing subsystem, Blue Coat will provide a transition phase where any valid licensed edition will continue to function with no change in behavior. In order to address this issue and upgrade to a new, more flexible license mechanism, Blue Coat requires all users of SGOS and AVOS to upgrade to a new version of SGOS and AVOS containing a new licensing subsystem by the end of this transition phase on July 4, 2013.
In order to make this transition as easy and smooth as possible, Blue Coat will offer versions of SGOS with the new licensing subsystem in the major releases of SGOS v4.x, 5.x and 6.x. While Blue Coat does recommend customers with entitled support contracts upgrade to the latest versions (including our recommended releases) of SGOS, specific versions of earlier SGOS with the licensing change will be fully supported and available as indicated in the chart below.
Customers who are not currently under an entitled support contract, will need to upgrade their ProxySG to a updated version within the same release train.
For ProxyAV, two new versions of AVOS, version 3.4.2 will be available for all ProxyAV customers.
Please see attached for more information about this urgent upgrade.
